The Establishment

The establishment of the Controller and Auditor General Zanzibar, relay on the Article 112 of the Constitution of Zanzibar of 1984. In this regard, the functions of the OCAGZ are governed by the provisions of Act no. 7 of 2023.

For this purpose, the Public Finance Act no.12 of 2005 was also established to guide the functions of the OCAGZ. By now, the office has total of 214 staff headed by the Controller and Auditor General called Dkt Othman Abbas Ali.
